Since 2016, this office, recognizing the extensive number of canal gates within irrigation areas, began planning a management system to accurately monitor water gate requirements. Important gates under the Ministry of Agriculture were incorporated into a grading system. Utilizing the office's GIS and MIS systems, field staff conducted surveys to precisely report gate infrastructure data, establishing a backend database for an electronic gate inspection system.
The workflow for the system is as follows:
- Field inspections of sluice gate equipment by personnel
- Recording using simple electronic devices
- Filling out inspection results via a mobile app
- Wireless transmission of inspection data
- Integration with the MIS and GIS systems
The Sluice Gate Electronic Inspection System utilizes NFC tags, GPS positioning, 4G networks for real-time data transmission, camera functions, and Google Maps to conduct inspections of various levels of sluice gates. Once data is transmitted back to the management system, it allows for real-time management by personnel at all levels, improving their ability to monitor the situation.

In response to management needs, this office independently developed the Sluice Gate Inspection and Management System, categorizing sluice gates into three levels (A, B, C). Workstation personnel regularly visit the sites to conduct inspections by scanning NFC cards with mobile devices. Data is reported and transmitted through a mobile app, improving gate management efficiency and eliminating the cumbersome process of manually filling out paper reports.
Gate Level | A | B | C |
---|---|---|---|
Impact Area | Large | Medium | Small |
Sensing Device | NFC | NFC | On-site inspection |
Inspection Frequency | Every half month | Monthly | Every other month |
Number of Gates (Reference) | 22 | 81 | 1937 |
The number of gates at each level may be adjusted based on local construction needs, with C-level gates being the most frequently adjusted.
