Since 2018, this office has been updating the existing automated hydrological monitoring and remote gate control systems for the Annong River and Xincheng River water systems annually. These updates are prioritized based on the importance of irrigation water and the needs of remote areas, utilizing mature 4G network technology. Furthermore, the system has been extended to the remote Nanao Irrigation District, along the upper reaches of the Nanao North Creek. The current benefits of the system include:
- Increasing crop production in existing irrigated areas
- Reducing agricultural disaster losses and enhancing the efficiency of pre-disaster crop harvesting
- Improving the precision and response of water regulation between various canal headworks
- Providing real-time hydrological data and channel gate images to facilitate irrigation water allocation and disaster prevention
- Enhancing the development of agricultural land in newly irrigated areas
- Increasing the efficiency of sediment discharge from channels, reducing the cost of channel desilting and maintenance
- Applying technology for disaster prevention, reducing the risks and dangers faced by management personnel during severe weather events
- Enabling multi-faceted collaborations, demonstrating the value of technological agriculture
