The Wanchangchun Canal Headworks is located on the Annong River in Kelin Village, Dongshan Township, across the Luodong River from Luodong Sports Park. It was constructed in 1952 through technical cooperation with the U.S. and has been in operation for nearly 70 years. This headworks is responsible for irrigating approximately 1,600 hectares of farmland in the Wujie and Luodong areas, making it the largest headworks within the jurisdiction of this office. Over the years, it has undergone multiple repairs and improvements to maintain functionality. In recent years, the aging of the sluice gate machinery has affected both irrigation and flood management.
In 2020, this office secured funding from the Ministry of Agriculture to upgrade the sluice gate machinery. The project included the replacement of 5 sediment discharge gates and 11 check gates. The improvements were completed by the end of November 2020, enhancing the management and efficiency of the headworks and ensuring a reliable irrigation water supply for the farmland.
