The Shazigang Drainage originates from the irrigation canals in Dongshan Township and has a total length of approximately 4,200 meters, with a catchment area of about 485 hectares. The lower section directly flows into Dongshan River. As it now handles drainage from multiple settlements along its route, it has become more than just an agricultural drainage system. While it plays a key role in farmland drainage in Dongshan Township, the original drainage system had an insufficient flood flow cross-section due to limitations in early management standards, with many sections consisting of earthen embankments, significantly impacting drainage and flood safety.
In 2013, this office initially secured funding from the Ministry of Agriculture to improve the upstream section, completing the work in 2014. Further funding was obtained in 2018 and 2019 to improve the downstream section, with all works completed by the end of 2020. The project improved 2,300 meters of drainage channels, 2,178 meters of drainage behind embankments, and included the construction of two bridges.
