Yutian Drainage (total length: 1,586 meters, catchment area: 2.60 km²) and Wendi Main Drainage (total length: 2,372 meters, catchment area: 4.24 km²) are located in the southern bank area of Dezikou River in Jiaoxi Township. Due to the flat and low-lying terrain and interconnected water channels within the catchment area, overland flow across drainage boundaries frequently occurs. Furthermore, during heavy rain, the internal water cannot be discharged in time due to the backwater effect of external water levels. When the Dezikou River recedes, the slow flow in the drainage channels makes it difficult for interior water to drain, often resulting in widespread flooding. Following a review by the Flood-Prone Areas Management Plan: Drainage Planning for Dezikou River Tributaries in Yilan County (Water Resources Planning Institute, Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs, 2009), this area was identified as a low-lying zone with poor drainage, urgently requiring improvement.
This office secured funding from the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Development Program under the Ministry of Agriculture to improve Yutian Drainage and Wendi Main Drainage. Key project details include:
- Yutian Drainage:
- Completion date: December 2019
- Project details: 788 meters of revetment improvement, 946 meters of drainage behind embankments, one unnamed bridge improvement, and the addition of two Zhaoyang No. 5 pumping units.
