The original Wulaokeng River water intake facility, built with funding from the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, was located above the fourth check dam on Wulaokeng River. The facility was severely damaged during Typhoon Parma, rendering it unusable and significantly affecting the irrigation of approximately 125 hectares of downstream farmland. This office sought funding to improve and reconstruct the intake facility to address the irrigation water shortage in the area.
The improvement project began in 2010 and was completed in 2012. It involved reconstructing the water intake facility above the fourth check dam on Wulaokeng River and installing a pipeline with a diameter of 45 centimeters to transport water to the Dongshan Canal intake. This improvement added approximately 0.37 cubic meters per second of water to the Dongshan Canal’s leading channel, alleviating irrigation water disputes and increasing farmland productivity. The project improved farmers' livelihoods and contributed to the goal of creating a prosperous rural community.
