The inverted siphon structure of the Pulin Canal, which crosses the Luodong River, was damaged in September 2022 due to river erosion. The damage not only disrupted the irrigation water supply for approximately 200 hectares of downstream farmland but also posed a risk of backflow flooding in the Luodong River, threatening flood control measures. Therefore, the structure was rebuilt.
In 2023, this office secured funding from the Ministry of Agriculture to reinforce and upgrade the inverted siphon. The project was completed in November 2023. Key features of the project include:
- Inverted Siphon Installation (approximately 342 meters): Reinforced concrete pipes with a 1-meter diameter were installed, along with reinforced concrete foundations and concrete warning blocks to ensure elevation control and provide erosion warnings.
- Two Ventilation Shafts: Vertical shafts were installed to facilitate future maintenance work.
